Deanna is the founder and owner of d’Pilates since its inception in 2005, and is also a nationally recognized speaker on various continuing education topics providing certifications to Physical and Occupational Therapists, as well as other Health Care professionals. Deanna is a rarity in the Pilates world – an experienced Pilates professional with a strong background in physical therapy and fitness. She has a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University and has a Masters degree in Gerontology (the study of the human aging process) from Wichita State University. Deanna has been a practicing licensed Physical Therapist for over 28 years. By combining her professional medical education and drawing on her extensive knowledge of the Pilates exercise repertoire, she is able to focus on the relationship between body and mind and how it affects ones’ complete health picture. Certifications include Physical Mind Pilates Mat, New York Power Pilates mat and equipment, Michael Miller Mat/Equipment Pilates, Polestar Rehab Specialist; Certified Weight Trainer and Personal Trainer in the Pilates method, the C.H.E.K. (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) and Holistic Lifestyle Coach. She is also a National Clinical Instructor for Pilates, Strength Training, Yoga and Senior Strength Training for baby boomers. She has developed and continues to teach educational programs for health care professionals, integrating Pilates and rehabilitation, both locally and nationally, and a former instructor in the Physical Therapy program at Kaplan College in Dallas, TX.
